Everything’s on Sale!

I went to fill up the other day at the gas pump and it cost me $50 bucks! I remember in the middle of 2020 when the virus was raging across the country it cost me less than 20 to fill up. It can be frustrating when you are paying 2 or three times what something is worth because we look at prices going up everywhere and it can be overwhelming. On top of that the different indexes this year are down significantly. So not only are people see their hard-earned dollars going; covering less and less when it comes to groceries and gas. It also seems like their Retirement savings is going away as well. EVERYBODY PANIC!!!

So now you are asking yourself: Matt why did you say everything is on sale when you just wrote everything costs more? Well, this is really a form of perspective and how you chose to view the world in general. I know if you are reading this you have heard, a positive mindset versus a negative mindset. If you train your mind to look for positive and good, you will see positive and good. If you train your mind to see bad and negative, it’s all that you will see. I take the example of looking for a new car to buy. Once you think about getting a Toyota Corolla, all you will see for the next few weeks and sometimes months will be all the Toyota Corollas in the area. Its amazing what our mind can do when we chose to focus on something; thats what we see!

For some people this might seem like I’m making light of a serious situation. A situation where families can’t afford to buy food and gas because they make the same as a few years ago, but inflation is up almost 10 percent, 2 years in a row. I know people are hurting and I feel the pinch as well. Why is everything on Sale then? Well, looking back at the Stock Market this year, it is down. Like people’s retirement plans and their stock portfolios. That also means to own that stock or part of company is down. So, Everything IS on sale!

In Retirement Planning if you are 5 years out from retirement or more you should be glad when the market is down because accumulation of units is the game, not what your portfolio is valued at. You don’t worry about the value of your portfolio until you get close to Retirement, if you are doing the proper things. You can buy a unit of Mutual Fund shares or Stocks for at least half of what they were a year ago! that is a great sale! Think of going into the market and seeing everything must go all items 50% off! Everyone loves a sale! So, when you see times like this make sure you have a proper plan setup with Dollar Cost Ave ringing and a three-account system you would be in the store (Market) taking advantage of this Stock Market Sale!
